What We Collect: Photos of food that you choose to capture or upload for analysis.
How We Use It: Food photos are sent securely to OpenAI's GPT-4o Vision API for nutritional analysis. Photos are transmitted via HTTPS. Photos are NOT stored on our servers and are only used for immediate analysis.
Your Control: You can revoke camera permissions at any time in iOS Settings.
What We Collect: Step count and workout data from Apple Health (with your permission).
How We Use It: Step count is used to calculate daily calories burned. Workout data is used for exercise calories. This data is processed locally on your device. Health data NEVER leaves your device.
Your Control: You can revoke Apple Health permissions at any time in the Health app.
What We Collect: Device motion sensor data for step counting when Apple Health is not available.
How We Use It: Local step counting and calorie burn calculations. All processing happens on your device.
What We Store: Food log entries, favorite foods, dietary preferences, and settings. All stored locally on your device. We do NOT have access to this data.
When you complete your profile, we may send an anonymous event (device ID, timestamp) to our analytics service for usage metrics. No personally identifiable information is collected.
If you use magic link sign-in, your email is used only to send the sign-in link. It is stored by our authentication provider (Supabase) for account management.
OpenAI API: Food photos are sent to OpenAI for nutritional analysis. Photos are not permanently stored. See OpenAI's privacy policy.
We do NOT share your data with advertisers, analytics companies, or data brokers.
All API communications use HTTPS encryption. Food photos are not saved on our servers. Health data never leaves your device. Local data is stored securely on your device.
You can: access your data in the app, delete entries, revoke permissions (camera, Health, motion), and uninstall the app to remove all data. We do not sell your personal information.
SmartKcal AI is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
